1. Brightech Litespan LED Lamp – Best For Reading

Brightech may not necessarily be the most well-known name in lighting, but there are not really that many well-known lighting companies. That being the case, Brightech has definitely made it a point to saturate the market and fill all every available niche when it comes to lighting needs. With our Editor’s Choice, we went with something that could fit everyone’s needs in some way. It may not top the list in any category, but neither is it specialized in any way to omit it from being useful to any given person.

Solid Options

The Brightech Litespan is unlikely to truly blow you away, but it is a fairly versatile floor lamp that can be used for a wide variety of purposes. Though it only has a single bulb, it uses an LED bulb that comes with a 20-year lifespan and uses far less energy than other types of light bulbs. On top of that, the Brightech Litespan also features an adjustable gooseneck, so you can determine exactly what type of and where you need the light to go allowing this console floor lamp to also be used as a torchiere floor lamp, though it will be significantly less effective in this context. Still, the frame is durable and the base is weighted keep it stable while the light switch stays lit even in the dark to make it easy to find.

PROS:
  • It’s a less expensive floor lamp
  • Is a console floor lamp
  • Comes in 5 different styles
  • 6000K LED light
  • 20-year lifespan
  • Has a dimmer
  • Flexible gooseneck
  • Stable lamp head
  • Switch stays lit
CONS:
  • Can generate radio interference
  • Cannot replace the bulb

2. Lustrat Minimalistic Floor Lamp with Flexible Gooseneck– Best Lamp with Remote Control

Lustrat is a bit different than the other brands we reviewed in that though they may be somewhat young, they have actually gotten large fairly quickly with numerous product lines for different settings and tasks. This means that Lustrat specializes exclusively in lighting or lighting accessories and aims to provide quality lamps at an affordable price. If you are looking for a floor lamp that can produce a colder, clearer feel, or a warm comfy feel, with its 5 different lighting settings the Lustrat U19G is just right for you and the best cold/warm floor lamp we reviewed.

More Than Mood

Though the creation of a colder light will be great for some people, that in and of itself will not make it the best of the bunch. Thankfully, the Lustrat U19G offers plenty of other benefits not the least of which is providing 5 separate colour tones and 5 step dimming. Even better, the Lustrat U19G uses LED lamp bulbs, though they cannot be changed if they go out, they are noted for having exceptionally long runtimes. It is worth noting that the light has a directional quality, so it is not ideal for general illumination unless you specifically position the lamps.

PROS:
  • Slim floor lamp
  • 8 high power LED bulbs
  • Energy efficient
  • Is a less expensive floor lamp
  • Frame made of metal
  • Fully flexible gooseneck
  • Has remote control
  • Easy to assemble
  • Multiple lighting adjustments
CONS:
  • Cannot replace the bulbs
  • Light is more directional than broad

3. Brightech SKY LED Torchiere – Best Lamp With Bluetooth

Considering Brightech focuses exclusively on lighting and light accessories, you would expect them to provide a solid torchiere floor lamp, but this is by and far one of the more advanced floor lamps that we encountered period. Granted, it is not truly smart home integrated, but it does connect via Bluetooth and can be controlled by a proprietary app. While it would be better is the light could work with either Apple’s or Google’s smart home apps, it does still actually provide a surprising amount of functionality.

Touch of a Finger

While you already know that the Brightech Sky can connect to a smart device through their app with Bluetooth, but the actual functionality this provides you is a bit surprising. For instance, it is pretty much a given that you can turn the light on and off with the app, but you can actually dim the light and change its color, and we are not talking its color temperature but its chromatic color. As if that were not good enough, the Brightech SKY is also able to sync with music you are playing, generating a fun strobe effect. Finally, as a torchiere floor lamp, the Brightech SKY goes a step above and not only provides vertical light but omnidirectional light as well.

PROS:
  • It’s a less expensive floor lamp
  • Is a torchiere floor lamp
  • Can change light colors
  • Has an LED light
  • Is Bluetooth compatible
  • Rhythmic features
  • Has a dimmer
  • 20-year lifespan
  • Provides omnidirectional illumination
CONS:
  • Cannot replace the bulb
  • Only white is bright

4. Brightech Jaxon LED Tripod Lamp – Best Warm Lamp To Light A Room

As we continue through the list, Brightech once again makes an appearance, except this time the point has less to do with a specific niche in terms of type and more to satisfy an atmospheric desire. Specifically, the color temperature of a light has more to do with than the visibility as it will directly impact your mental state at the moment. A “colder” light will ultimately make you feel alert and will cast the surrounding area in a harsher contrast. Warm light, on the other hand, is noted for feeling relaxing and for making a home feel cozier. In this sense, the Brightech Jaxon surpasses all others floor lamps that we reviewed.

A Proper Design

While the Brightech Jaxon may give off the warmest light that we saw, it still has a number of other qualities that either enhance this effect. For instance, this is a console floor lamp which means that the light is directed downwards to prevent any kind of harsh glare from ruining the mood. Even better, despite having a warmer feel to it, the Brightech Jaxon also comes with an LED light, which means that you will not have to worry about it going out any time soon. Finally, the Brightech Jaxon is just generally an all-around solid design with 3 metal legs providing plenty of stability.

PROS:
  • Is a console lamp
  • Comes in 2 styles
  • Frame made of metal
  • Is a more stable floor lamp
  • Has an LED light
  • Long lifespan
  • Comes with a lampshade
  • Provides warmer light
  • Energy efficient
CONS:
  • More difficult to assemble
  • Not the most durable

5. Bingham Black Tree Torchiere 3-Light Lamp – Best For Dark Room

As the name implies, 360 lighting is a company that specializes exclusively in lighting products and their accessories. As such, it only makes sense that 360 lighting would be able to provide a high-end floor lamp, and in this instance, that happens to be the best tree floor lamp that we reviewed. Still, it is worth noting that 360 lighting is an only online business which allows them to keep their overhead costs down and pass those savings on to you. That said, this is definitely one of the least energy efficient floor lamps on our list and can potentially generate a lot of heat too.

Lighting Everywhere

When it comes to most of the floor lamps on our list, they use low wattage LEDs that cannot be changed out. While LEDs are more energy efficient, the ones used for lighting are often not as illuminating as older bulbs. Regardless, you can use any kind of bulb with this floor lamp, including an LED, for its main torchiere lamp as well as its 2 tree lamp settings. Aside from the fact that there are 3 bulbs which put out 230 watts, the “limbs” of the 360 Lighting Bingham have a gooseneck design which allows you to position the lamp in any direction you want.

PROS:
  • A more budget-friendly lamp
  • Is a tree floor lamp
  • 3 different bulbs
  • Metal construction
  • 2 gooseneck lamps
  • Can use a variety of bulbs
  • Is a more stable floor lamp
  • Provides more light than most
  • Easy to assemble
CONS:
  • Not as energy efficient
  • Lamp shades are flimsy

6. Brightech Eclipse LED Lamp – Most Unique Lamp

Once you have all of the basic niches covered in a given market, you then have the ability to begin experimenting and innovating. When it comes to the Brightech Eclipse, that is precisely what one of the biggest lighting manufacturers in the world did. Just from a glance, it is easy to see that the Brightech Eclipse stands out, but what may surprise you is that it is not simply a gimmick and performs quite well with a unique approach to lighting that is sure to influence future designs and innovations.

The Double Ring

From a glance, it may not be immediately easy to tell exactly how the Brightech Eclipse lights up in the first place. It turns out that the interior of the rings has been hollowed out and embedded with an LED light strip for both of the rings. While this does mean that you cannot replace a blown bulb, the LED bulbs are rated to work for up to 20 years, so that should not be too much of an issue. Aside from the fact that this ends up providing more light some of the other floor lamps we reviewed, the inner circle can be adjusted on a swivel illuminating omnidirectionally.

PROS:
  • Is a unique type
  • Comes in 2 different styles
  • 2 bulbs
  • Has LED lights
  • Can adjust inner ring
  • Has a dimmer
  • Easy to assemble
  • Is a more stable lamp
  • 3 brightness settings
CONS:
  • Is a more expensive floor lamp
  • Cannot replace the bulb

7. Brightech Sparq LED Lamp – Best Arc Lamp

Though they may not be a mainstay in most people’s homes, the arc type of floor lamp is actually a fairly popular and established type of floor lamp that provides some unique benefits not found with the other types of floor lamps. For instance, arc floor lamps are generally meant to provide a focused or localized area of illumination as opposed to simply illuminating an entire room. On top of that, most arc floor lamps have the ability to adjust their position in a somewhat similar fashion to a gooseneck tree lamp head.

All-Around Solid

Beyond the fact that this is the best and only arc floor lamp that we reviewed, it is also simply an all-around solid product that skirts the line between various benefits to ensure that there are not too many negatives. For instance, the frame is made of metal which is important because a product designed to move will eventually wear out. Thus, the more durable the moving material is made of the longer the product will be able to move without issue or failure. Brightech Sparq also comes with a dimmer function that allows you to select between 3 different brightness settings depending on the situation. Finally, this is a fairly energy efficient floor lamp, even if it is not necessarily the brightest.

PROS:
  • Is an arc floor lamp
  • Has an LED light
  • Provides localized illumination
  • Comes in 2 different styles
  • Frame made of metal
  • Can adjust the stem
  • An energy efficient floor lamp
  • Has a dimmer
  • 3 brightness settings
CONS:
  • Cannot replace the bulb
  • Not the brightest

8. VAVA Dimmable LED Lamp – Best For Living Room

VAVA is a unique company in that it is arguably one of the more successful crowd-sourced companies by virtue of their consistent and continued trend of putting out great products that people want. For instance, while this company does not actually specialize in lighting or lighting accessories in any way, shape, or form, focusing instead primarily on audio electronics, they still manage to find ways to innovate a variety of electronics markets to give you something new. In this instance, it is by far the best convertible floor lamp that we came across.

Something for Everyone

Normally, when it comes to floor lamps, versatility is not really at the top of the list as the expected performance is fairly obvious: light up the space. Of course, different spaces call for different types of lamps, and that is where the VAVA VA-DL31 comes in handy as it can easily transition from a free-standing floor lamp to a desk lamp with little to no effort. On top of that, this is a console floor lamp, but it features a flexible gooseneck, so you can position the light anywhere and illuminate up or down. It comes with replaceable LED bulbs that can be shifted to 5 different color temperatures depending on what mood you are trying to create.

PROS:
  • Is a console floor lamp
  • Energy efficient
  • Easy to assemble
  • Has a long lifespan
  • Flexible gooseneck
  • 5 color temperatures
  • Has a timer
  • Is a convertible floor lamp
  • Frame made of metal
CONS:
  • Touch controls are iffy
  • Not the brightest

9. Franklin Iron Works Metal Lamp – Best Console Lamp

Franklin Iron Works is definitely not your run of the mill lighting company in that it is a company in high enough demand that it can require exclusivity contracts. This is likely due to the fact that Franklin Iron Works takes pride in using real metals worked into beautiful pieces that provide just as much form as they do function. That said, it should be noted that Franklin Iron Works is an only online company which is usually done to pass savings on to customers, but that does not seem to be the case in this instance.

A Brighter Bulb

To be clear, it is actually more accurate to say that the Franklin Iron Works Marlowe has 2 of the brightest bulbs that we saw at 100 W each. While this means that the Franklin Iron Works Marlowe will provide plenty of illumination, it also means that it is not as energy efficient as some. That said, the Franklin Iron Works Marlowe does accept LED bulbs, though they still need to be the appropriate wattage. Still, this floor lamp is definitely more about and performance style than it is efficiency. Of course, if you are that concerned about the energy usage, the Franklin Iron Works Marlowe features nice aesthetic touches that also serve functions like the 2 pull cords to turn out the bulbs.

PROS:
  • Made of durable materials
  • Is a console floor lamp
  • Provides more illumination than most
  • More styled than most
  • More stable than most
  • Uses 2 bulbs
  • Can use a variety of bulbs
  • Easy to assemble
  • Uses pull cords
CONS:
  • Is the most expensive floor lamp reviewed
  • Not energy efficient

10. Kira Home Akira Lamp – Brightest Floor Lamp

Revel, Kira Home, Kira Living, the company has only been around for half a decade, but it seems to go through names rather quickly. Whatever muse has taken hold of the owners, we suggest to let it be as Revel is another brand that has made it a point to provide more stylized lighting options rather than simply focusing on the utility and a minimalist aesthetic. Even better, this particular model is a tree lamp, and while it may not be quite as adjustable as some of the others we saw, it definitely tops our list in another way.

Brighter Than the Rest

This is a bit tricky to call considering that the total wattage is not always the best way to determine the brightness, but it does help us get an idea of how much illumination you can expect. With 3 bulbs that each put out 100 W, the Revel Kira Home Akira is easily the most illuminating floor lamp that we reviewed by 70 W. On top of that, the various lamps of the Revel Kira Home Akira all have their own diffusing lampshades, which are noted for being more durable than most, and the entire floor lamp can also be adjusted with a dimmer.

PROS:
  • Made of durable materials
  • Is a tree floor lamp
  • 3 different bulbs
  • Comes in 2 different styles
  • Has a dimmer
  • 3 different brightness settings
  • Is more styled than most
  • Is more stable than most
  • Comes with lampshades
CONS:
  • Is a more expensive floor lamp
  • Is not as energy efficient

Buyer’s Guide

Type

While this may seem more of a design choice than anything else, the type of floor lamp will ultimately determine how the lamp is designed to illuminate. This is important as the room in which you place the lamp will need to match its intended purpose or else the light will not illuminate as desired. The will also often determine what kind of light you will see: direct or diffuse. The difference between the 2 often affects how comfortable a person is and what you need the light for. Direct light is great when you really need to see, like in a workshop or kitchen, but it can be a bit harsh in the bedroom or study.

Console

This is the standard type of floor lamp that is actually noted more for the lampshade than the actual form of the lamp itself. The reason for this is two-fold with the first being that the lampshade inherently diffuses the light given off by the bulb so that it will be a bit more comfortable, though this will also have the added effect of dimming the overall illumination potential of the floor lamp as well. The second notable quality of a console lamp’s lampshade is that it directs the light downward, opening up wider at the base than at the top.

Torchiere

The torchiere can be seen almost as the complete opposite of the console floor lamp’s approach while still achieving more or less the same results. Specifically, the torchiere floor lamp has a bulb the shines direct light upwards without the use of a directing shade, though there is often a vertical shade diffusing the eyeline light. Regardless, the light reflects off of the ceiling, becoming softer and diffuse, and serve to effectively illuminate a large space, arguably better than any other type of floor lamp, though some tree floor lamps can compete.

Arc

This is by far the most unusual type and is also the most specialized, though its popularity more or less demands its inclusion as more than a novelty. Basically, an arc floor lamp is a long lighted strip that is able to be positioned over a small, localized space. This type of floor lamp is ideal if you need a light in an area where you are seated and reading but do not want to worry about a desk lamp or something similar. It is worth noting that this type of floor lamp is ill-suited for lighting a larger space and will likely not even be bright enough to light the immediate vicinity beyond a 5’ radius.

Tree

This is a fairly common type of floor lamp and it holds the possibility of performing virtually every task that all of the other 3 kinds are designed to do but better. Keep in mind, the possibility of a tree floor lamp is rarely realized and most models are simply a set of decent lamps that can be positioned. This does offer a great deal of versatility and the option of providing more illumination than most, but with a well-thought design, the light will generally not be enough to illuminate a large space without a fairly particular configuration.

Conclusion

As we can see, the sheer number of different settings, situations, and aesthetic choices will prevent a single floor lamp from being the universally best floor lamp. Instead, a better idea is to figure out where you need a floor lamp and what it will be illuminating. If you need a floor lamp for general illumination, you are likely not going to be looking for the same product as one that is best suited for reading in bed.

For general purposes, though we recommend the Brightech Litespan because it provides a robust range of features that make it both effective as well as convenient. The lighted switch also makes this a great floor lamp to use in a dark space like a basement or a space that is especially dark at night. With a flexible gooseneck and a built-in dimmer, the Brightech Litespan is incredibly convenient and versatile.

For those who want a floor lamp that can offer a variety of different types of lighting options, we recommend the VAVA which is the only floor lamp that we reviewed which features a convertible design allowing it to transition from a floor lamp to a desk lamp. Beyond that, the VAVA also features a flexible gooseneck, a dimming function, 5 different color temperatures, and a timer.
